As previously reported, Latvia plans to transfer 100,000 euros to a specially created fund to assist the residents of Nepal and address the consequences of the flooding. This is evidenced by documents prepared by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which are to be considered by the government. The funds are planned to be transferred to the special fund of the Prime Minister of Nepal for disaster relief. The money will be allocated from the budget for unforeseen expenses. It is worth recalling that on August 26, the collapse of a glacier caused a flow of icy debris, and the breach of a glacial lake led to large-scale mudflows and destruction in Nepal and China. As of September 3, the confirmed death toll stands at 1,252, with another 4,216 reported missing. A large group of tourists from Latvia, organized by yoga enthusiasts from "Yantra," was near the epicenter of the disaster. Several other Latvian tourists were in the disaster zone as part of a group from the local company "Mighty Himalayan Trek." According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, three residents of Latvia who were in the region at the time were not harmed by the flood-induced mudflow. Another 33 people are currently considered missing.
