“Is the idea that we will continue to intercept and shoot down all drones primarily using fighter jets? If so, then this is the end. We will really have terrible problems,” said the politician. Ijabss reminded that a summit dedicated to unmanned technologies had already taken place in Latvia. Within its framework, together with Latvian companies, the possibilities of creating and developing domestic counter-drone systems were discussed. According to the MEP, it is important not to limit oneself to the development of such technologies. It is necessary for the Latvian defense sector and the National Armed Forces to be ready to purchase such systems, test them, and implement them in practice. Ijabss believes that relying on fighter jets as the main means of intercepting hostile drones entering Latvian airspace is not an effective and sustainable solution. Instead, the country needs to actively develop its own anti-drone technologies.
