### The number of Ukrainians in Poland is decreasing According to published statistics, in July the number of Ukrainian citizens with temporary protection status in Poland decreased by 8,110 — to 953,100 people. A decline was also observed the previous month: in June, the number of recipients of temporary protection in the country decreased by 6,300. At the same time, Poland remains one of the EU countries with the largest number of Ukrainians who received temporary protection after the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. ### Choosing not only Germany Germany remains the main center of attraction for Ukrainians in the EU. According to RMF24 data, in June there were nearly 1.29 million people benefiting from temporary protection there. However, another direction is becoming increasingly noticeable — the Czech Republic. At the end of June, there were about 381,000 recipients of temporary protection there. RMF24 notes that the Czech Republic is increasingly becoming the choice of Ukrainians who have decided to leave Poland. In other EU countries, there is also a significant number of Ukrainians with temporary protection. In July, there were 272,300 in Spain, 219,400 in Romania, and 149,000 in Slovakia. ### Ukrainians remain the main group Ukrainian citizens still make up the overwhelming majority of all recipients of temporary protection in the European Union. According to data provided by the Polish publication, in June more than 24,000 Ukrainians applied for such status, and their share among all people under this protection mechanism in the EU was 98.5%. At the same time, the provided statistics primarily show changes in the number of registered recipients of temporary protection in individual countries. They do not, in themselves, allow us to assert that all Ukrainians who have dropped out of the Polish statistics have moved specifically to the Czech Republic or Germany.
