Today, Minister of the Interior Janis Dombrova shared facts on social media that were reported to him by the leadership of the State Police. "The police reported that on Friday in Jelgava, a citizen of Uzbekistan was detained for committing lewd acts against a minor in an inner courtyard. Prior to this, he had established targeted contact with the child and is possibly storing narcotic substances at his residence. The individual is in Latvia as an auxiliary worker with a long-term visa. The State Police acted actively to investigate this case and to determine whether this is an isolated incident of possible pedophilia by a citizen of a third country, whether the individual has committed other similar crimes, and whether a broader circle of individuals is involved. There will be no tolerance in the internal affairs system for foreigners who commit crimes. Such individuals pose a threat to society, not an economic contribution," Dombrova wrote on his Facebook page.
