“Improvisation is everything to me” Lisa Eldridge was born in the UK and spent her childhood in New Zealand. “I drew a lot and played the piano - I was happy! How did I become a makeup artist? A friend’s father owned a beauty salon. Makeup, manicures, hairstyles - this hustle fascinated me. I think it all started from there.” Lisa admits that each new day is unlike the previous one: her schedule is so packed that sometimes she cannot say what she will do tomorrow - create another cosmetic bestseller or beautify a Hollywood celebrity. Emma Watson, Kate Winslet, Keira Knightley, Kate Moss - each of them would be happy to be in her hands. “When I have free minutes, I happily give them to my family or shut myself in my creative studio and work on videos for my vlog.” She started her blog when she accumulated enough beauty experience to share it with others. Since 2009, on the website lisaeldridgedotcom, Eldridge offers lessons in accessible beauty. What a Top Makeup Artist Uses Her must-haves include the Secret Camouflage concealer from Laura Mercier, a lip pencil from Charlotte Tilbury, Shu Uemura eyelash curlers, and a couple of products from Lancôme - the Grandiôse mascara and her own first eyeshadow palette. Also, red lipstick is a must when you want to add a bit of boldness and glamour. Additionally, Eldridge always has on hand: - a lavender silk eye mask from Holistic silk (“I sleep in it all night after a flight”), - an ultra-hydrating mask from Sisley or Laneige, - Absolue creams from Lancôme. “Makeup is a trick that every woman should know how to use,” Lisa believes and shares ten personal beauty hacks. 10 Tips from Lisa Eldridge 1. Use SPF 50 every day. Find a really good sunscreen. Let it be a product in your makeup bag that costs as much as all the others combined - trust me, your skin will thank you. 2. Don’t overdo it with eyebrows. I don’t like drawn “Instagram” eyebrows, colored and filled in so much that you can’t see the real hairs. I prefer them to be lighter and “feathery” - natural. Cultivate a “hair sense” in yourself. 3. Apply mascara starting from the roots of your lashes. Place the wand at the roots and hold it, as if massaging the roots, for a bit longer - let the movements be as slow as possible. It’s better if the first and most generous coat of mascara goes to the base of the lashes. 4. Blend. Contour transitions, especially when they are too heavy and the wrong shade, look terrible! Carefully blend the edges: when contouring is done correctly and seamlessly, it can transform your face. 5. Don’t overdo it with concealer. Look in the mirror and apply it only to the areas that really need coverage. Don’t forget about the sponge and the sense of proportion, dosing the product. 6. Don’t overload the eyes (especially if they are small). All girls love lush thick lashes and a heavy eyeliner line. But if you naturally have small eyes, don’t make them even smaller artificially - with heavy makeup. 7. Don’t be afraid of primers. They not only prolong the life of makeup but also wonderfully conceal skin imperfections. 8. Love masks. Use them every day! I’m literally obsessed with masks, so it’s hard for me to name one preferred type and brand. 9. Go easy on bronzer. It’s hard to reduce the amount if you’ve overdone it. If you love the bronzing effect, apply the product in light, weightless layers. 10. Try Japanese false eyelashes. Ask your friends who are going there to bring some as a gift! They are very light, so they just stick on and last a long time. Angelika Ivaglo.
