The Riga City Council has information on 1,624 addresses where incidents related to fallen or damaged trees and branches due to the storm have been recorded. The aftermath has been addressed in about a third of these locations. The situation at Riga's cemeteries remains quite complicated. In areas managed by the Department of Housing and Environment, the costs for eliminating the storm's consequences are preliminarily estimated at around 377,000 euros. The majority of this amount is attributed to the removal of fallen and hazardous trees. Approximately 600 fallen or hanging trees have been found in Riga's cemeteries. Their removal will cost about 90,000 euros. An additional approximately 24,500 euros will be needed for the removal of root systems of about 70 uprooted trees. To date, around 150 trees have been cleared from the cemeteries. The storm also damaged the fences of several cemeteries. It is worth noting that on August 22 and the following night, Latvia was hit by the strongest summer storm in decades. In some areas, wind speeds exceeded 30 meters per second. The thunderstorm caused extensive damage to distribution and main power grids. At the height of the storm, up to 285,000 consumers were left without electricity simultaneously. Due to power outages, communication, gas stations, and in some places, shops also became inaccessible in many areas.
