During the implementation of the pilot project, special QR codes will be installed in the areas managed by the enterprise. By scanning them with a smartphone, anyone can anonymously report a noticed problem. At the first stage, the new system will operate in five locations: Skanstes Park, Vermanes Garden, Mezaparks, Victory Park, and Nordek Park. The project was initiated by IT specialist and data analyst Stanislav Davidovich. He approached Rīgas meži and offered to use his professional experience and knowledge to implement the new system. The project utilizes the service Zonix.lv, developed by him. It allows park visitors to anonymously report litter, damaged infrastructure, and other deficiencies after scanning the QR code. It is expected that this will enable the enterprise's staff to receive information more quickly, respond to residents' reports, and organize necessary work. With the new tool, Rīgas meži aims to simplify communication between citizens and the managing organization. The enterprise hopes that information about damages and litter will be promptly sent to responsible staff, making city gardens and parks more well-kept, safe, and accessible. After the pilot project concludes, Rīgas meži will assess residents' activity, the content of the received messages, and the practical benefits of the service. Based on this data, the enterprise will decide on the further use of the system. As previously reported, in the first half of 2026, Rīgas meži's turnover amounted to 11.185 million euros — 12.2% less than in the same period of 2025. The enterprise's profit decreased by 2.5 times, to 913,905 euros. The company's management report notes that in the first half of 2026, Rīgas meži successfully achieved its financial goals, ensuring the stability and sustainability of the enterprise. Rīgas meži was registered in 2008. Its authorized capital is 115.418 million euros. The enterprise manages 62,000 hectares of forest, 399 hectares of Riga's parks and green spaces, and is also responsible for the cultural and recreational park Mežaparks. The pilot project will provide Riga residents with a simple way to report deficiencies in city parks directly. If the system proves to be in demand and helps to resolve issues more quickly, it may be expanded to other areas managed by Rīgas meži.
