On Friday, September 11, the Royal Corgi Walk will take place in the center of Riga for the fourth time. According to Gerda Pulkstene, the chairwoman of the Corgi Friends of Latvia society, this year the organizers hope to set a new record for the number of dogs participating in the event. Last year, 198 corgis gathered for the walk, and now the owners hope to surpass this result. The main novelty will be the selection of the King and Queen of the Royal Corgi Walk — this ceremony will take place for the first time. After the walk, the celebration will continue in Kronvalda Park, where participants can enjoy a British tea picnic, a musical program, and a costume contest. Owners will be able to present their pets in seven categories, and in the evening, a disco will be organized for participants at the cultural space "Burbulis." The event has already become an annual tradition for fans of this breed and attracts more participants each year. In addition to corgi owners, numerous spectators usually attend the walk. The honorary guest of the celebration will be the British Ambassador to Latvia, Katie Leach, which is symbolic, as corgis have long been considered the favorite breed of the British royal family. If the record is broken, this year's walk will become the largest gathering of corgis in the history of the event in Latvia.
