This week, a contract was signed for construction work on the reconstruction of the Riga Radio and Television Station, including the detailing of project documentation, technical inspection, and engineering surveys. The work will begin in the coming months and will last for three years. The Latvian State Radio and Television Centre (LSRTC) notes that the contract amount according to the suppliers' proposal is 38.63 million euros. As reported, at the beginning of 2024, the LSRTC announced a procurement for the reconstruction of the tower and the technical-administrative building in Zakusala. The reconstruction is expected to last about three years. One of the observation platforms of the tower is planned to feature protruding glass cubes, allowing visitors to experience the sensation of being at a great height outside the tower, and at a height of over 130 meters, an open observation deck will be constructed for visitors. For thrill-seekers, "cloud walks" will be offered - the opportunity to step onto an open platform at a height of 220 meters with special safety measures. The tower will also include workspaces for LSRTC employees, technical rooms, and technological equipment necessary for the operation of the building. The area around the tower is planned to be landscaped, equipped with rest and picnic areas, and a parking lot for visitors will be built.
