The authors of the appeal stated that they "contemptuously reject" the lie that Israel has committed genocide in Gaza. The letter notes that unprecedented conditions of warfare with hundreds of kilometers of tunnels and booby-trapped houses have been erased in the rush to blame the Jewish state. The signatories emphasized that the key difference between war as a tragedy and genocide lies in intent, stating: "In this war, only one side intended to commit genocide - and that is Hamas." The text also indicates that accusations of genocide began to surface on October 8, even before Israel's large-scale response to the terrorist attack, which aimed to break the blockade of terrorist enclaves and restore the country's deterrent forces. The authors of the letter stressed that the accusation of genocide has become a pretext for attacks on Jews around the world aimed at depriving the Jewish state of its right to exist, and called on the public to regard this lie with disgust.
