"NATO air policing mission fighters were involved in checking the object. They determined that the radar signatures were a flock of birds," the National Crisis Management Center (NCMC) reported to journalists. According to the NCMC, the yellow alert level lasted for about 38 minutes — from 12:59 to 13:37. During this time, air traffic at Vilnius Airport was suspended. "Based on initial radar data, the signatures of birds and drones can be similar, so an additional check was conducted for accurate identification of the nature of the object," the center noted. The yellow alert signal means that residents are advised to remain calm and to identify a safe place in advance.
