The threat from criminal gangs has increased in Germany, reports Deutsche Welle. In 2025, the number of investigations into crimes committed by organized groups rose by 5.6% in Germany, reaching 683 cases. This is the highest figure since 2021, according to a new report from the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA). Additionally, over the year, 7,988 suspects were registered for involvement in crimes by criminal organizations - this is also the highest figure in the last five years. Among the suspects were 2,722 German citizens, 664 individuals with Turkish passports, 402 Syrians, 281 Albanians, and 258 Polish citizens. "Organized crime poses a growing threat to our internal security," noted the Minister of the Interior of Germany, Alexander Dobrindt, in connection with the publication of the report. According to him, criminal gangs "are becoming more professional, brutal, and brazen." The head of the BKA, Holger Münch, in turn, noted that even foreign states are turning to criminal organizations, entrusting them with carrying out acts of sabotage and espionage.
