The Latvia U-23 women's 3x3 basketball team was unable to win the bronze medals at the World Championship, losing on Saturday in the third-place match to the Spanish team. Seeded sixth, the Latvian team lost to the third-seeded team with a score of 14:22. The most productive players for Latvia were Marta Leimane and Enija Kivite, each scoring six points. Adelina Urthane added two points to her tally. Despite the defeat in the bronze match, the tournament was one of the most successful for the Latvian team in recent years. On their way to the semifinals, the Latvians confidently defeated the French team with a score of 21:15, but then lost to Canada — 8:21. Thus, the team finished the championship in fourth place, just one step away from the podium. For Latvia, medals at the U-23 World Championships in 3x3 basketball remain a rarity. Before this tournament, Latvian teams had only once reached the podium — in 2018, the men's team became the silver medalist of the first world championship in this age category. Meanwhile, the Latvia men's team continues to fight for the title. At 15:55, they are set to play in the World Championship final against the Lithuanian team. In this tournament, there were 20 teams among men and women, divided into four groups. The top two teams from each group advanced to the playoffs.
