The technology combines cameras, a computer vision system, artificial intelligence, and laser equipment. While moving through the field, the cameras continuously scan the plants, and the algorithm determines where the agricultural crop is located and where the weed is. After recognition, the system directs the laser at the unwanted plant and destroys it. At the same time, the machine must accurately distinguish weeds from beneficial crops to avoid damaging the harvest. One of the main advantages of the technology is the ability to combat weeds without the use of traditional herbicides and, consequently, without the associated chemical residues. The Chinese development has already entered the foreign market. Such machines are exported to Australia, where they are used by large agricultural enterprises to combat weeds. Thus, artificial intelligence is gradually taking on another familiar agricultural task: instead of spraying chemicals, the machine independently finds each unwanted plant and precisely destroys it with a laser.
