During the conversation, the president expressed satisfaction with the active political dialogue between Latvia and Kuwait. E. Rinkēvičs expressed solidarity with Kuwait and condemned the attacks from Iran. “Iran and Russia are dangerous global aggressors. Therefore, it is necessary to jointly counter the threat posed by these countries. Such aggression cannot be normalized,” the president stated. The president is confident that Latvia and Kuwait face similar security challenges, especially regarding air defense issues. In his opinion, it is necessary to strengthen the defense industry to enhance its capabilities and find effective and cheaper solutions to bolster air defense. E. Rinkēvičs also noted that the situation in the Middle East directly affects global security and supply chains. According to the president, the Latvian army is ready to support international efforts to restore freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. During the meeting, the president invited the Emir of Kuwait and the Crown Prince to visit Latvia.
