Zelda Williams sharply opposed the AI-generated videos featuring her late father. The occasion was yet another fake video in which Robin Williams allegedly discusses conspiracy theories. According to his daughter, the actor never uttered the words attributed to him. In reality, she claims, the image and voice of the actor were generated by artificial intelligence. ### "This voice is robotic and terrible" According to Zelda, the fake is hard to mistake for the real Robin Williams. She was particularly outraged that some of the actor's fans believed what they saw. She stated that anyone familiar with her father's films should notice the artificiality of the voice. Zelda described the video as clearly created with AI and "not even particularly convincing." But for her, the main issue is not the quality of the deepfake, but the very use of a deceased person to spread others' views. > "Leave him alone and let him rest in peace," she addressed the creators of such videos. She then added even more harshly: > "Just because he is gone doesn’t mean he is now your puppet. Show at least a little shame." ### "Don’t use a dead person to make your words more convincing" Zelda considers it particularly unacceptable to exploit Robin Williams' fame to promote ideas that the actor himself did not express. She also questioned: if a person needs to artificially make a deceased celebrity say the words they want to defend their position, then who is really manipulating public opinion in that case? This is not the first time the actor's daughter has spoken out against the digital "resurrection" of her father. In October 2025, she asked users to stop sending her AI-generated videos of Robin Williams. At that time, Zelda directly stated that she did not want to see such videos and did not perceive them as a tribute to her father. ### Robin Williams foresaw the protection of his image As noted by Entrevue, even during his lifetime, Robin Williams established restrictions on the commercial use of his name, signature, photographs, and likeness after his death. The restrictions are set for 25 years after his death — until 2039. Moreover, the relevant provisions were established long before the current rapid development of generative AI capable of imitating a person's appearance and voice. Robin Williams passed away in August 2014 at the age of 63. His children Zak, Zelda, and Cody also manage the actor's official account on Instagram, where they post authentic photos, videos, and materials from his life. And as deepfakes become more realistic, Zelda Williams' demand becomes more acute: the memory of a deceased person does not give the right to turn them into a digital character to whom any words can be attributed.
