In Germany, at least 950,000 Volkswagen, Audi, and Seat vehicles are being recalled due to potential issues with a steering column mounting bolt that has been found to be susceptible to corrosion. This was reported by the Federal Motor Transport Authority on September 25. To address the issue, the VW group is offering vehicle owners a free inspection and repair at service centers, which takes about an hour. However, the ntv channel, citing internal VW documents, reports that there may be a shortage of necessary spare parts at the initial stage, and some owners may need to visit the service center twice. It is specified that the automaker is resorting to a temporary solution - if the required bolt is not available, service centers are advised to initially use an alternative part, but it will need to be replaced again once the required bolt is back in stock. A VW representative described this as a "reasonable approach," also noting that more than 2.1 million vehicles could be recalled worldwide.
