So, tomorrow the members of the Saeima will gather for the last meeting before the elections. The next plenary session will take place on October 8, when some members will, to put it mildly, not be in a very good mood - they will need to think about employment after November 3, when the powers of this parliament will end. In any case, tomorrow the servants of the people will have their last opportunity to remind themselves from the Saeima podium before the elections, which, as is known, will take place this Saturday, October 3. There will be plenty of reasons for the parliamentarians to speak from the podium, as they will need to consider not only the current agenda but also finish discussing the bills that remained from last week's agenda. Debates are expected on the opposition's proposal to adopt a special statement regarding the Constitutional Court's decision to consider a lawsuit recognizing a family... of two mothers of a child - one biological mother and the other her partner. The authors of the Saeima's statement project believe that the court should not have even started considering this case, as the spirit and letter of the Satversme clearly define that a family or marriage is a union of a man and a woman, and "not two mothers." The agenda also includes a proposal to prohibit municipal deputies from visiting Russia and Belarus. As is known, last year a ban on visiting these two countries was introduced for Saeima members and a number of state institution employees. The Saeima will also consider a proposal to require security clearance for deputies working in the Saeima's Defense and Internal Affairs Committee. Currently, clearance is only mandatory for the Speaker of the Saeima and deputies working in the National Security Committee. The Saeima will adopt in the final reading amendments to the Law on Public Media, which will end Russian broadcasting in public media starting next year. On Thursday, the Saeima will urgently adopt amendments to the Law on the Development of Agriculture and Rural Areas, which will expand the ban on the import of products of Russian and Belarusian origin, extending it not only to agricultural products and animal feed but also to food products. If we do not count tomorrow's plenary session, the deputies of the 14th Saeima have only 4 more meetings left.
