The government of Ukraine is cutting all secondary state expenditures to focus available funds on financing defense. This was stated by Prime Minister Sergey Koretsky. According to him, Ukraine's spending on the war this year will reach $155 billion. At the same time, the state currently lacks $27 billion to meet military needs in 2027. "The government has switched to a maximum savings mode and postponed all secondary expenditures. But this is not enough," Koretsky wrote on his Telegram channel. The Prime Minister emphasized that further funding largely depends on the support of international partners. He stated that it is critically important for Ukraine to maintain external financial assistance, as its own resources are insufficient to cover all expenses. At the same time, the head of government warned that the receipt of $29.5 billion in international funding could be at risk if Ukraine does not fulfill its obligations to the International Monetary Fund and the European Union. This primarily concerns the implementation of agreed reforms, the fulfillment of which is one of the conditions for providing financial assistance. According to Koretsky, out of 42 necessary decisions, 17 have already been implemented. The government intends to complete the rest by October 15. As noted by Reuters, Ukraine has already faced delays in receiving foreign aid this year. The agency links this to the protraction of certain reforms, corruption scandals, and disagreements between parliament and the government regarding several bills. "Our defense, the stability of the state, and our ability to resist Russia depend on fulfilling these obligations," the Prime Minister stated. Thus, in the coming weeks, one of the key tasks for the Ukrainian authorities will be to meet the conditions of international partners, on which further funding of the state budget depends.
