Russia struck the Northern Bridge in Kyiv, reported the mayor of the Ukrainian capital, Vitali Klitschko. This is yet another attack on the city's transport infrastructure following the strike on the Southern Bridge the day before. According to Klitschko, after an air raid alert was announced due to the threat of drone attacks, the Northern Bridge was hit. Later, the mayor clarified that the road surface and trolleybus contact lines were damaged as a result of the strike. Traffic from the left bank of the Dnipro River to the right bank is temporarily closed. Emergency services have been dispatched to the scene. The new attack continues a series of strikes on crossings over the Dnipro, connecting the eastern and western parts of Kyiv. The day before, authorities closed the Southern Bridge — one of the most important transport arteries of the capital — and restricted traffic on another crossing after attacks by high-speed jet drones. This led to massive traffic jams: major highways became congested, and many passengers had to look for alternative routes or continue on foot. The Southern Bridge is one of eight crossings over the Dnipro in Kyiv. According to city authorities, the cable-stayed structure has been repeatedly struck since Thursday. On Friday, Klitschko stated that life in Kyiv is essentially under martial law.
