According to the politician, the United List is certainly counting on retaining the post of Prime Minister, as well as the position of Minister of Finance. Tavars did not rule out that, given the election results, AS may receive more ministerial portfolios in the next government than in the current cabinet. In particular, the United List may claim leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which has so far been under the purview of New Unity (JV). At the same time, Tavars emphasized that negotiations on forming the government are just beginning, so the specific distribution of positions still needs to be discussed. According to the AS representative, the most suitable starting point for negotiations on creating a new government is the "previous coalition framework." Among the political forces that passed into the Saeima, it also includes the National Alliance and New Unity. At the same time, Tavars currently does not see the possibility of inviting the party "Latvia First" into the coalition. The politician admitted that he was counting on at least 30 seats for AS in the new parliament, so the 42 mandates that the United List received based on preliminary election results came as a "small surprise" to him. In Tavars' assessment, about 70% of AS's success is due to the current Prime Minister from the United List and candidate for the head of the next government, Andris Kulbergs. "It is his work ethic, personal qualities, and ability to communicate openly," the minister stated. Commenting on the results of other parties, Tavars admitted that he feels "humanly sorry" for the Union of Greens and Farmers (ZZS). At the same time, he considers the result of this political force to be, to some extent, predictable. Among the reasons, the politician mentioned the inconsistent position of ZZS on the Istanbul Convention, the so-called woodworkers' case, as well as the scandal surrounding former Minister of Welfare Reinis Uzulnieks, who was detained shortly before the elections for driving under the influence. As reported, after counting approximately 99% of the votes in the elections to the 15th Saeima, the United List achieved a convincing victory, receiving 42 parliamentary mandates.
