In the elections to the Saeima, Health Minister Hosam Abu Meri was one of the leaders in terms of the number of "negatives" received from voters. As a result, he dropped from second place in the Vidzeme list of "New Unity" to fifth place. The still-upset head of the Ministry of Health announced his intention to resign as chairman of the party council and to step back from politics for a while. It is likely that Abu Meri will return to his previous work as a gastroenterologist-diagnostician. Apparently, the voters of "New Unity," by giving Abu Meri "negatives," assessed his work, including in his position as Minister of Health. After the current government's term ends, Abu Meri will receive compensation equivalent to two ministerial salaries.
