Trump stated that the task of the SIF is to maintain America's absolute global leadership in a technology that will be "larger than the industrial revolution and the internet." The creation of the SIF was preceded by a closed summit at the White House with leaders from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Meta, and Nvidia. At this meeting, the tech giants agreed on voluntary self-regulation standards for AI development, and Trump announced a "historic agreement." Now, the SIF has exactly 120 days to provide the president with the first strategic report on the capabilities of the technology and the distribution of roles between the government and the private sector. In addition to developers and military personnel, Trump also included operators of critical infrastructure, public, and religious organizations in the group of permanent interlocutors.
