As reported by the TV3 program "Degpunktā", recently on Vienības gatve, a woman noticed a young man who had climbed onto a trolleybus and even placed a cemetery candle on its roof. "Suddenly my child says, 'Hey, mom, look!' Is this even allowed?" I saw something like this for the first time in my life, the eyewitness Ivita tells the program. The woman immediately reacted — at the next stop, she stopped in front of the trolleybus and warned the driver. While they were talking, the young man jumped down and walked away with his candle. Ivita herself does not understand why young people engage in such dangerous acts without considering the consequences. The author of the publication wonders: was this a bet, an attempt to save on a ticket, or something more dangerous? And most importantly, did the man realize what he was risking? "What would happen if there was an accident? Would the driver have to answer for the actions of her 'passenger'?" "Rīgas satiksme" calls such behavior a game with death. A sharp turn or braking could end tragically for these daredevils. Moreover, filming and publishing such incidents creates a mass effect that encourages others to try something similar. Company representative Baiba Bartashevicha Feldmane urges people to immediately contact the police in such situations. Although she is not aware of any cases where such behavior ended tragically, the risk is very high — if he falls, the young man could end up under the vehicle itself or under another vehicle coming from behind.
