"I think we should ask Mr. Zelensky to strike more at data centers in Russia, and that might help," he said in response to a question about what Lithuania, Poland, and other allies should do to protect elections in their countries from interference. During a panel discussion on the challenges of European security in the context of global changes, Sinkevičius spoke with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre. "No one will offer us, Europeans, a seat at the decision-making table just out of politeness. To be there, Europe must find more strength, energy, and unity within itself. Political commitments must be realized more quickly, and investments in defense must lead to new defense capabilities," Sinkevičius noted. According to him, strategies and plans are necessary, but "they do not deter Russia." "The defense industry of our countries still lags behind real production needs, so we must look for ways to stimulate it – through more active mutual cooperation, learning from Ukraine's experience, and acquiring its competencies. The more we do together – from information sharing, joint procurement, joint production to joint exercises – the better we will be protected," the Lithuanian Prime Minister emphasized. In the first half of 2027, Lithuania will hold the presidency of the Council of the European Union, and next year, the presidency of the eight Northern and Baltic countries (NB8) will pass to Norway. The Prime Ministers agreed that this is a "unique opportunity to strengthen security decisions in the Northern Baltic region, and they agreed to coordinate actions."
