Against the backdrop of disagreements between Cristiano Ronaldo and the head coach of the Portuguese national team, Jorge Jesus, the attention of fans was drawn to a post by Georgina Rodriguez. The partner of the famous footballer shared a message on Instagram in which Alex Ferguson allegedly defended his former protégé and criticized the treatment of him by the national team's coaching staff. The post quickly attracted the attention of Ronaldo's fans. After all, Ferguson is not just a well-known coach, but a person who played a crucial role in the rise of the Portuguese as a star of world football. It was under the guidance of the Scottish specialist that young Ronaldo revealed his talent at Manchester United, won the Champions League, and received his first Ballon d'Or. Therefore, the supposed intervention of Ferguson in the conflict seemed particularly significant. ## Loud words turned out to be unverified However, questions soon arose regarding the authenticity of the circulated statement. As reported by sports publications talkSPORT and Goal, the quote attributed to Ferguson turned out to be fake. No credible interview, press conference, or official statement was found in which the former Manchester United manager uttered those words. After reports about the inauthenticity of the quote emerged, Georgina deleted the post. Thus, the story, which many fans perceived as public support for Ronaldo from his famous mentor, turned into a new scandal on social media. At the same time, there is no basis to claim that Georgina intentionally spread false information. It is possible that she herself believed the post she decided to share. ## Why Ferguson's opinion is so important for Ronaldo The relationship between Cristiano Ronaldo and Alex Ferguson has long transcended the usual cooperation between a player and a coach. The Portuguese has repeatedly stated that he considers the Scottish specialist one of the most important people in his professional life. It was Ferguson who, in 2003, convinced the management of Manchester United to acquire the 18-year-old Ronaldo from Lisbon's Sporting. Over six seasons of working together, the player transformed from a promising young man into one of the best players on the planet. In 2009, Ronaldo moved to Real Madrid, but maintained a warm relationship with his former mentor. Therefore, any post in which Ferguson supposedly evaluates Ronaldo's actions invariably attracts heightened interest. ## A conflict that does not subside The story of the fake quote arose against the backdrop of strained relations between Ronaldo and the coaching staff of the Portuguese national team. The player expressed dissatisfaction with not receiving the expected playing time in the match against Norway. Later, he left the national team's camp, and the situation escalated into a public dispute. In this context, fans are closely monitoring any statements from notable figures related to the Portuguese forward. That is why the message about the supposed support from Ferguson quickly spread on the internet. However, the story showed how easily an unverified quote can be accepted as a real statement in the midst of a sports conflict. As a result, instead of the expected support for Ronaldo, Georgina Rodriguez's post drew attention to the issue of spreading false information about celebrities. The post can be supplemented with a specific detail that makes the story noticeably more interesting. According to the Portuguese publication A Bola, Georgina not only reposted the fake quote but also accompanied it with her own outburst against Jorge Jesus: "I don’t know how this man can bear the name of Christ." In Portuguese, the surname Jesus coincides with the name of Jesus. She soon deleted the post.
