"American negotiators have been trying to persuade Ukraine to capitulate for almost two years — well, definitely a year and a half — now," Kallas said while addressing the European Parliament in Strasbourg, as reported by Euronews. The head of European diplomacy noted that the EU has prepared a document with demands that European countries should present to Moscow as part of future peace negotiations. "If Russia puts forward its maximalist demands and wishes, we must present our maximal demands to balance the course of negotiations. Moreover, this is a clear signal to Russia: if it wants to get what it is interested in — namely, the lifting of sanctions — then Europe must be present at the negotiating table, as it concerns decisions affecting Europe," she said. Kallas emphasized that the EU is not willing to agree to concessions without guarantees of a 'long-term and just' peace. Previously, The New York Times (NYT) reported that the U.S. intends to persuade Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to agree to territorial concessions for an agreement with Russia.
