At the end of October, relatively warm weather for this time of year will persist in Latvia, although there will be occasional rain. According to meteorologists' forecasts, air temperatures will remain above the climatic norm, reports the LETA agency. This coming weekend, October 24 and 25, variable cloudiness is expected. On Saturday and Sunday, light rains are possible in the eastern part of the country, and on Sunday evening, a large area of precipitation will approach Kurzeme from the west. The wind will predominantly be from the south and southeast, ranging from weak to moderate. However, on Sunday it will strengthen: gusts may reach 10–15 meters per second, and in Kurzeme, up to 18 meters per second. At night, the air temperature will be +4 to +9 degrees, while during the day it is expected to range from +9 to +14 degrees. Thus, the weekend will be quite warm for the end of October, but on Sunday, the weather in the western part of the country will begin to deteriorate due to the approaching rains and strengthening winds. Next week, the weather will not change significantly. In various regions of Latvia, there will be occasional rain, with the most precipitation expected in western Kurzeme. A moderate southwest wind will prevail, which will be stronger along the coastal areas than in the inland regions of the country. Meteorologists do not currently forecast night frosts. The temperature will remain positive, and in some coastal areas, it may even reach +12 degrees at night. During the day, temperatures across Latvia are expected to be +8 to +13 degrees. Despite the periodic rains, the end of October will generally remain drier than usual. According to forecasts from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts, the amount of precipitation in both the last week of October and the first week of November will be below the climatic norm. This continues a trend that has been observed for most of the month. According to the Latvian Centre for Environment, Geology and Meteorology, in the first ten days of October, the average air temperature exceeded the norm by 2.8 degrees, and the amount of precipitation was only 59% of the usual level. In the middle of the month, it was also warmer than the norm—by 1.3 degrees. Moreover, even less rain fell: only 48% of the average amount for the period from 1991 to 2020. Thus, October 2026 is currently characterized not only by elevated temperatures but also by a relatively small amount of precipitation. However, with the onset of November, the weather may change. Meteorologists allow for the formation of an anticyclone that will bring cooler air. For now, the main change in the coming days will be the strengthening of the wind and an increase in the amount of rain, while no significant cooling is expected until the end of October.
