It often happens that a woman looks much better without clothes than in them. The opposite can also be true; a "curvy piece" in a bikini loses its attractive contours. This indicates that the former spoils her figure with unnecessary lines in clothing, while the latter uses optical tricks but does so excessively eccentrically. Visual illusions are often encountered in everyday life. A simple example is railway tracks: in the distance, they seem to converge, although in reality, the distance between them does not change. We are mistaken when we look at them, but we know this. When it comes to clothing, we have all the cards in our hands: we can see and understand incorrectly since we are unaware of the features of another person's figure. For example, if we want to look taller and slimmer, we wear high-heeled shoes. The result is that we appear taller and slimmer. But what should we do if we need to look smaller and neater? In this case, low-heeled shoes are not the only element. We can use color blocks in the ensemble, layering, horizontal lines, calm hairstyles, and bright accents in the lower part of the body that will visually "ground" us. For instance, contrasting or extravagant shoes can "shrink" you by a few centimeters in height. Stylists are aware of situations where clients approach their wardrobe in a highly illogical manner. For example, a girl comes in skinny jeans and complains about her figure flaws, but skinny jeans are the only cut she prefers. In conversation, it turns out that she likes her hips and wants to draw attention to them. If that's the case, there's no need to worry about trifles. There is nothing wrong with curvy hips. If you feel uncomfortable because "everyone is staring at your heavy hips," stop wearing tight bottoms and put on a striking brooch in the portrait zone. This will help divert attention from the buttocks. Properly directing attention is one of the main tools for visual correction of the figure and appearance as a whole. If you want to visually look slimmer or even a couple of sizes smaller without diets, there are several important tips to pay attention to first. 1. Vertical Lines in Clothing Elongate the Silhouette To look slimmer, you will need vertical lines in your clothing. Buttons in a row, zippers, hidden fasteners, the hems of jackets, cardigans, coats, long scarves or shawls, pressed creases on trousers, piping, vertical stitching. Exceptions include contrasting stripes, frequent pleats, and pleats, which will make your figure appear bulkier. 2. Monochrome Matte Look Prefer dark matte fabrics that hold their shape well. Remember: shine, decor, and texture will make you look fuller. A monochrome outfit, when you are dressed from head to toe in one color, elongates the silhouette. This can be anthracite, blue, blueberry, or chocolate color. Such an ensemble, made up of different shades of one color family, looks elegant and aristocratic. Moreover, it adds a few centimeters to your height and visually reduces volume. 3. Buy Clothes in Your Size It sounds trivial, but many do not know how or do not want to buy clothes in their size. Women often buy items a couple of sizes smaller in hopes of slimming down, while men prefer larger sizes to appear more imposing. Neither achieves their goals. Even the slimmest woman in a dress that is too small for her creates the "sausage effect," while a man in baggy clothing creates the effect of a pencil in a cup. 4. The Right Underwear No matter how we work on visual illusions, the image can easily be ruined by poorly fitting underwear. The right bra should not create bulges in the underarm and back areas. The outlines of panties should not show through clothing. Shapewear exists for everyday wear and special occasions. It helps not only lift the breasts but also give them the desired shape. 5. Hairstyle According to Body Proportions Your hairstyle should harmonize with the proportions of your body. Do not slick your hair back into a trendy ponytail if you are struggling with excess weight. You can wear shiny textures, bright and light colors, trousers with cuffs, and sporty shoes. If you want to wear a sequined top, go for it! In that case, the bottom and the top should create a vertical line. Heeled shoes will also help. Think creatively, because fashion is not mathematics. Today two plus two equals four. And tomorrow — we’ll see!
