According to media reports, Martin accompanied his owner for treatment at the Bolivian Eastern Oncology Institute in Santa Cruz de la Sierra. After the man's death, the rooster remained near the medical facility. "Martin sleeps in a nearby tree, and every morning at 6 o'clock he comes down and wanders around the vicinity of the medical point. Doctors, staff, and patients already know him and often offer him food and water," the publication states. On social media, Martin has been dubbed the "Bolivian Hachiko" due to the similarity between the rooster's story and that of the famous Japanese dog.
