In Cesis Region, a Tractor Driver Hit Wires and Died

Yesterday in the Stalbe municipality of Cesis region, a tractor driver hit electrical wires with the boom of a hydraulic manipulator and died at the scene. The State Police is investigating the circumstances of the incident. Among the victims in a traffic accident on Saturday were two pedestrians. The police detained 20 drivers for driving under the influence of alcohol, with the most offenders caught in the Riga region. In Zemgale, one driver was detained for driving after using narcotic substances. 13 of the detained drivers were in a state of severe intoxication, and therefore criminal penalties were applied to them. On Saturday, 198 reports were filed for speeding, and overall, the police issued 484 reports for various traffic violations yesterday.
