The preparation will be led by the United Kingdom and France, which play a leading role in discussing the possible deployment of international forces on Ukrainian territory. The exercises will last until November 22 and will take place in southeastern Poland. According to Euronews, citing AFP and statements from defense ministries, military personnel from several European countries, including Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands, Lithuania, and Estonia, will join the training. A total of about 2,800 people will be involved in the preparation. ## What the military will practice The main objective of the exercises is to test the readiness of international units for joint actions in the event of a possible deployment of forces in Ukraine. Particular attention will be paid to logistics organization, ensuring the safety of military personnel, and protecting military facilities. One of the key areas will be countering drones, which play a significant role in modern combat operations. In addition, participants will address issues of civil aviation security and coordination of actions between units from different countries. It is expected that the experience gained may be used in preparing an international mission if a political decision is made to deploy foreign military personnel in Ukraine after the cessation of hostilities. ## The U.S. does not participate directly Notably, the United States is not sending its troops to participate in these maneuvers. The primary responsibility for preparing a possible operation rests with Ukraine's European allies. At the same time, the very idea of deploying an international contingent remains a subject of political disagreements. Russia has repeatedly opposed the presence of foreign military personnel on Ukrainian territory. The exercises in Poland do not mean that a decision to send troops has already been made. For now, it is exclusively about preparing for a possible scenario, which will depend on the further development of negotiations and the conditions of a potential peace agreement. Nevertheless, the scale of the maneuvers and the participation of Baltic states indicate that European countries are already working on practical issues related to a possible international mission in Ukraine.
