Tinto (real name – Giovanni) Brass was born in 2023 in Milan, but he considered Venice to be his "truly native city." According to his own words, he chose the name Tinto for himself because he loved painting since childhood, and his relatives called him "little Tintoretto." In his youth, Brass sympathized with the leftist movement and experimented with various genres of cinema, including addressing social issues. However, he soon shifted to exploring human sexuality and made films that became classics of erotic cinema. His love for painting and aesthetic taste allowed him to transform eroticism into a full-fledged artistic and political statement. Among Tinto Brass's most famous films are "The Voyeur," "Caligula," "Paprika," and "Salon Kitty." Many of Brass's films were restricted in screening due to their excessive explicitness. Tinto Brass's last film, "Hotel Courbet," was released in 2009. In 2010, Brass suffered a stroke and no longer worked in cinema.
