The Bureau for the Protection of the Satversme (BPS) promises to promptly conduct checks on the deputies of the 15th Saeima and future ministers for the issuance of access to state secrets. The issuance of special permits falls within the competence of the BPS, which has the necessary resources to carry out the checks. Requests from the new composition of the Saeima and the Cabinet of Ministers will be prioritized, the BPS reported. After receiving requests from the Saeima and the State Chancellery, the bureau will conduct checks and provide responses to the institutions within the time limits established by law. According to regulations, the check must be completed within three months. If it is objectively impossible to meet this deadline, it can be extended for another three months. Access to state secrets is only necessary for some deputies of the Saeima, but it is mandatory for all ministers.
