### It will still be relatively warm over the weekend On Saturday and Sunday, November 7 and 8, as well as on Monday, November 9, predominantly cloudy weather with clearings is expected in Latvia. Light rain is possible in some areas. A weak to moderate wind from the west will blow. On Saturday, gusts along the coast may reach 14 meters per second. In the coming nights, the air temperature will mainly range from 0 to +6 degrees, and up to +9 degrees on the coast. An exception will be the night of Saturday: in the eastern regions of Latvia, thermometers may drop to −1…−4 degrees. During the day, the air will warm up to +4…+10 degrees. ### On Tuesday, the temperature will drop below zero A noticeable drop in temperature is forecasted for Tuesday, November 10. According to current meteorological calculations, the sky will clear up, and the wind will shift to a southern direction. By morning, the air temperature will drop to 0…−4 degrees over most of Latvia. No significant warming is expected during the day: the maximum temperature will only reach +2…+6 degrees. Slight frosts are also forecasted for the night of Wednesday. ### Snow possible from November 11 Starting from Wednesday, November 11, when Latvia celebrates Lāčplēsis Day, the likelihood of precipitation will increase. Throughout the week, not only rain but also snow may occur in some areas. Due to temperature fluctuations around zero, ice may form on certain sections of the roads. Drivers and pedestrians should consider the possibility of slippery road surfaces, especially in the morning and at night. At this point, it is only a matter of the probability of snowfall, not the establishment of a stable snow cover. ### The week will be colder than the climatic norm According to the forecast from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF), the upcoming week in Latvia is expected to be about 1–2 degrees colder than usual for this time of year. At the same time, the amount of precipitation may be below the climatic norm. In the following weeks, meteorologists predict a return of temperature and precipitation amounts to normal seasonal values or their exceedance. Thus, the upcoming cold snap does not yet mean the onset of a prolonged period of winter weather.
