"I am pleased to announce that the great Dana White, a fierce fighter and warrior, has been offered the job of Press Secretary of the United States," Trump wrote in a post on his Truth Social network. "Dana, please take this job!" Trump directly addressed White. Speaking to reporters in London on Saturday evening, White did not go into details but mentioned that he is flying to Washington "right now" and will meet with Trump on Monday. "I’m sure we’ll have a lot to talk about after that," he continued, noting that he already has "a lot of work." Earlier, White posted a story on his Instagram account featuring an image of him standing behind the podium for press conferences at the White House, with the caption: "Moving on to the next chapter." In recent years, a close relationship has developed between Trump and White: Trump regularly attends UFC tournaments, and White has spoken at several of the president's rallies, including an event on the eve of the inauguration in January 2025. The search for a new press secretary began after Katie Zachariah resigned after less than five days in the role following an awkward first press briefing. Her predecessor, Caroline Levitt, a favorite of the president, announced in August that she was leaving the position to focus on her family. Trump called Levitt one of his "most trusted aides" and stated that she would continue to work as an advisor. "Caroline was one of the best White House press secretaries in the history of the position," Trump wrote in a social media post at that time.
